Christy Lynn Carroll

The investigation 

I had talked with Christy for about an hour on the phone on
Saturday, 4th of Feb.  We made plans to meet on Monday. 
I was never questioned by anyone at any time.

Kim Burlison was with her all day on Saturday 4th. until 
11:30 that night.  Although she was one of the last people
to ever see Christy alive, and even though Christy was 
getting a ride to Kim's home to spend the night with her,
she too, was never contacted by anyone investigating the
case.  She even tried to contact the authorities but her calls
were not returned.  Kim has stated to others that she and 
Christy shared a six pack of beer at her cousin's house that
day before they went to town, in search of a ride to her home.

No one in the bar was ever contacted or asked any 
questions concerning that night.  Several tried to 
contact the investigators but was brushed aside.

The bar she was in was one of only two in the County
and town of Hohenwald.  The owner Kenneth Kelsey
is a life long resident and knows all the kids in the 
community.  Since he sold food and had games, he 
allowed young people in the establishment but would
never sell alcohol  to minors, nor allow them to bring
anything to drink into his place of business.  He has 
always been strict about this rule. He went to school
with my daughter, and knew exactly how old Christy
was. Every one said the girls sat at a table by the 
window watching for Christy's brother or friends to
come by so they could get a ride to Kim's home.

What kind of TBI agent never talks to anyone who
was with the victim when she was seen last? But 
then again, she was not considered a victim !!

The local news channels carried the news of the 
first death of the year ... Due to hypothermia ! 

That's also what her death certificate says.

If that is true, then they left her alone in the country
without her coat or shoes in the dark and the temperature
that night of Feb. 4th 1995 was 14 below zero wind
chill factor. That means she was still alive when they
left her there alone in the cold and dark to die. They
moved her body to her drive way late Sunday night or
before daylight on Monday.

The Rural Mail Carrier

The mail carrier wondered who could play such a cruel
joke, to stuff clothes and make it appear it was a body.
she immediately saw her as she turned up the drive. 

As she pulled up to the mail box, she suddenly knew it
was no sick joke !  No cell phones as there is today, 
she quickly drove away to the nearest home and called
the sheriff's department. There was a corpse at the
Carroll residence. 
Although she told this story to family and others she too
was never contacted by any one investigating the case.

The jailer

The jailer had no idea whose body had been found.
she dispatched the report to the deputies to check
out. Walking through the cell block a few minutes
later she overheard Daniel Lays cousin who was in
jail telling the other inmates," they just found Christy 
Carroll's body." She reported this to the sheriff.

Comment.. How did he know it was Christy's body?

Good job investigating Agent Jerry Tenery !!

Just heard a lady on the web from another county
 say this same TBI Agent was working her 
relative's case. I hope he isn't good friends with the
suspect.

same church as Eric Amachers parents. They are good friends.

I sometimes sit and stare at the photo's trying to detach my heart
and mind from the fact that this body is Christy.  I am looking for 
some clue to tell me what happened to my grand-child.  I see the 
clinched hands, that make me wonder if she was fighting for her 
life. I see the bare feet, knowing the below freezing temperature at
that moment. ( 14 below zero ) The blouse and pants legs pulled up
and I think it might be how someone would die of a heat stroke, but
certainly not how one would look that froze to death.  Would they 
not be in a fetal position, trying to get warm? The bruise on the chin
 could not be covered up at the funeral home and was clearly visible.

Dr. Harland could not tell  a tattoo from a scar !!

Christy had a wreck on her four wheeler when she was thirteen.
she had a tattoo on her ankle, but the other tattoo's he recorded
on the autopsy report was scars from that wreck. "peace 
symbol tattoo present on the right shin." A layman might 
make this mistake, but a medical examiner???

Missing garments and shoes. 

The conclusion that no foul play was involved overlooks the 
fact that her shoes are missing, her jacket is gone. Any witness
that saw Christy before she got into the car  with Eric Amacher
and Daniel Lay  can verify that Christy had on shoes and warm
clothing in freezing weather. Also her blouse was not torn. The 
officers did not even see the burr's embedded in the sash on the
back of her blouse.  That evidence was contaminated when they
gave the family the clothes in a small plastic bag at the funeral 
home.  a family member took photo's of the clothing. Leaves were 
on the inside of all clothing even her under garments.

When we were allowed to see Christy at the funeral home, the 
dark bruise on her face ( chin area ) was clearly visible. Had we
been able to view her body I wonder what other injuries we would
have seen.  In the other case I have on this site, the family of Tim 
concerned about the bruised face undid his clothing and found his
horrible beaten body. ( photos for viewing of Tim are on this site)

The Media

Today, year 2005, the media is more concerned with debatable
deaths than they were ten years ago. The media also doubts the 
official versions and comments on their suspicions.  We contacted 
the Nashville news media, but after speaking with the officials 
they did no follow-up. They, naturally, never saw the photo's. Only
one reporter of a small paper came down and was appalled to see
the evidence and realize how distorted the facts had been publicized.
The Victims' Rights Coalition supported us and tried to help to no
avail.  Even a State Representative, and a Senator sent letters 
asking the FBI to investigate the murder of Christy Carroll and was
 told they could not get involved as it was a case for the TBI.  Who 
could grasp or even envision that the TBI agent lived in our  small 
rural community and went to the same small church as the suspect's 
family and was good friends with them. I hope for others sake he has
more knowledge of the law and more experience now than he did ten
years ago.  A friend and official from the 29th district called him in 
behalf of the family and he refused to answer any questions put to 
him, saying he was not at liberty to discuss the case with anyone.
When the official quoted the laws concerning what he was asking,
and identified himself, agent Tenery, so enraged, hung up on him.

Let it go, what's seven months.

The officials finally told us that if we did prove the boys had 
beat Christy and left her to die that seven months was all the 
time in jail they would spend.  They did not kill her, she was alive
when they left her. They would only do time for assault and negligent 
as her death was due to hypothermia !  If someone put a deadly 
snake in a mailbox would they not be guilty, as the person died from 
a snake bite. or just tie a person to a tree in a remote area and leave
them to die or freeze to death?? Only 7 months? Something is badly
wrong with our system if this is true. I think Aruba is doing more to 
get to the bottom of the disappearance of Natalee Halloway that the 
officials in our United States did to find out what happened to Christy. 
I truly believe the FBI are helping because of the media attention.
Thankfully, our newscasters today, don't let the matter fade into 
obscurity. They keep it on the news for the world to see and realize
that an injustice or crime has been committed.  That gets results.

To the person or persons responsible for Christy's death:
Murder is one crime that has no time limit. Years later you
can be convicted !! Someday you may pay for her death !!
