Heads in the sand

Christy probably died on the 4th or early morning hours of the 5th.  Her body was discovered on the 6th.  I started a web site a few months after her death as I was trying to cope with losing her and all the unanswered questions.  I was so angry and bitter at the unfair treatment from the officials and judicial system. My site title was "Loss, bitterness and Grief" is a grandmother in pain.   Now ten years later, we still have no closure. We still feel the loss and pain, but some of the bitterness has left. Now I just feel that the system failed due to elected officials who had no idea how to conduct a proper investigation, and who due to their lack of experience can not fathom a crime of this magnitude in their community. They still stick their heads in
the sand and turn away from any evidence of a criminal act of murder by one of their respected citizens.  It's just the easy way out and cover up is the only way they know to save face.

The citizens of Lewis county TN. still regularly elect these same officials.  They live their quite lives and never question what the media reports.  Don't rock the boat or make any waves The citizens too, can not grasp the reality of major crime in their environment. As long as the officials arrest the drug users and dealers, and the rare burglars they feel safe. They were shocked and saddened when a police officer was killed while investigating a store break-in. The burglar was from another county, so that explained the crime. It was not one of their own.  The citizens go to work, to church and depend on the local news to tell them how someone died. If the local paper that consist of maybe six pages says they lost a member of the community due to heart attack then it is the truth.  The editor too, depends on what the sheriff department tells them, so the peaceful cycle evolves in peaceful ignorant bliss.

The citizens never question until crime hits their nest. They then discover the shocking truth of who they have elected and find no justice prevails in their small town. But they find also they are now alone, without justice.

"Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are."
Benjamin Franklin

A new recent questionable death
